I bought a Shoei TZR helmet (size determined by trying on the helmet of a friend RF1000) and it fits perfectly everywhere except on the cheeks, where it feels like the pads are too tight. I am new to the horse and I wonder if this and indication of a fitted helmet or should I look for replacement cheekpads? If I look for replacements should I look for a helmet cheekpads size smaller or bigger? Thanks!

the foam in the helmet will compress the more you use, if you need to replace the pads to get the next larger size helmet as the size of the shell is the same foam padding is slightly weaker.

Helmet: Icon Airframe or Shoei RF1000?

Im in the market for a new helmet-my cousin dropped my EXO1000 again on the her kitchen floor tiles. So i’m buying a new helmet. I heard that the icon is uncomfortable, and does not breathe well. I like the look of the black solid rubatone however. The Shoei RF1000, IMO seems to be better designed, looking, and I heard its super lightweight and ventilation systems work extremely well. What do I get? Does a person own these helmets?

Well that's funny because I have a RF1000 and my biker buds have the icon. One complaint I had was that ventilation was not great (though the town is very still) The Shoei RF1000 is a great helmet and the reviews are awesome. You can feel the air flowing through your hair at about 15 mph that I like. It is also lightweight and very comfortable. The only problem I had with him was during the morning time. Provided that impinge upon me, but Once put in the breath deflector (which comes with the helmet) was fine. So I would highly recommend that you get the Shoei. Its lightweight, well ventilated and is only state of the art design allows for better aerodynamics. You will not be dissappointed! good luck
