A motorcycle GPS is pretty much like other vehicles’ GPS systems, but there may be added features that would protect the unit from the elements, as compared to one found in a car. These are great because they will allow you to plan your trips and be able to figure out the best roads or trails to use for that full motorcycle thrill ride. The main types of motorcycle GPS system are portable regular GPS systems and systems that are built specifically for bikes.

A regular portable motorcycle GPS is one that can be used on motorcycles, but also used in cars, boats, and even planes. They are able to work on any kind of transportation, which makes it a very handy gadget to have.

You may want to choose a GPS system designed for bikes. The most popular brand is known as the Tomtom Rider, which not only has protective casing to avoid it from getting easily damaged, but is also waterproof. It has a rechargeable lithium battery and has a memory card slot that locks in the card even if the portal is left open. It allows for over 2 gigabytes of information to be stored on it. It also comes with a Bluetooth headset and a helmet headset to be able to listen to the voice prompts.

The PDA motorcycle GPS system is a multi-purpose gadget that has Microsoft Office features to allow one to catch up on work, enough memory to store videos and music and has games and image storage capabilities.

These GPS systems should be selected based on your needs and how you normally use your motorcycle. Choose one that can store enough data and has sufficient power to last as long as needed. As always, your budget will also play a role in your decision.
